Wesley Hayes
Postdoctoral Researcher
Wesley started his PhD at Northeastern university in the Fall of 2020. He grew up in North Carolina and graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Environmental Engineering. Wesley’s current projects involve private well water testing in North Carolina and municipal water supply in Puerto Rico. He is seeking to understand differences in quality and access to municipal and private well water, incorporating statistical analysis, community demographic factors, and field studies. During his PhD, he hopes to continue applying research skills in engineering to problems involving environmental justice and equity. In his free time, Wesley enjoys exploring local parks and neighborhoods and outdoor adventures like backpacking, running, and biking.

Tiffany Tang
Doctoral Candidate
Tiffany has always had close ties to drinking water and North Carolina! She did her MS and BS in Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University, focusing on factors affecting PFAS removal from drinking water. At Northeastern University, she is investigating the validity of various private well water location methods in collaboration with Wake County Environmental Health Services, exploring the way these location methods interplay with demographics, outreach, and human health! She hopes to finish her PhD with a multifaceted understanding of drinking water issues - from treatment to policy. In her free time, Tiffany enjoys thrift shopping, eating matcha deserts, and skateboarding.
Kyla Drewry
Doctoral Candidate
Kyla is passionate about disaster-based drinking water equity issues impacting vulnerable populations. Her current project focuses on comparing multiple flood mapping methods in their ability to detect areas at high risk for contamination in wells following disaster events. She is also working on determining relationships between demographics of well-using populations and water quality in collaboration with community partners. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering in 2022 from the University of Connecticut. In her free time, Kyla loves being outdoors, hiking, swimming, reading, and cooking.
Brooke Goggins
Doctoral Student
Brooke is an incoming PhD student in Northeastern’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. She graduated with her bachelors of science in Biological Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in May of 2023. Brooke’s past research ranges from carbon sequestration on PA farms to cultural eutrophication in the Danube Delta. In her PhD, she is excited to explore private well water quality and access to natural resources. She hopes to include topics of equity and policy in her research. In her free time, Brooke enjoys painting, cooking, hiking, and playing the guitar.
Cassidy King
Undergraduate Student
Cassidy is working on creating media to communicate well water related topics to local health departments in North Carolina.
Lori Parker
Undergraduate Student
Lori is creating GIS flooding simulations for North Carolina and investigating well water disparities in Mississippi.
Kourtney Bichotte-Dunner
Undergraduate Student
Kourtney is designing and constructing flooding experiments to evaluate flood pathways in private wells, looking at private well coverings and their infiltration rates using sensors and R.
